The Eldest
First child of Barbara Ann O'Brien and Thomas Kenny Hamall, born in 1958. Mary Katherine grew up hearing the stories — the Brooklyn carpenter and the orphan who married him, the three Thomas Hamalls, the Scattered Stones. She would eventually become the one to write them all down.
After more than a 40 year career as a Pulmonary Function Technologist, Mary retired in 2025 to devote herself full-time to the work she had been doing for decades: professional genealogical research and storytelling. She is the founder of Storyline Genealogy, specializing in Irish, Scottish, French-Canadian, and Philippine heritage research.
Mary married Romulo Tamayo Morales on May 10, 1986 — a union that brought together the Hamall family's Irish-American roots with the Morales and Tamayo families of the Philippines.

Mary Katherine married Romulo Tamayo Morales on May 10, 1986. Romulo's own family story stretches from the Philippines — through the Morales family of Numancia, Aklan, and the Tamayo family — carrying its own history of resilience through war, loss, and migration.
His grandfather, Mamerto Morales, was killed during World War II in 1942 — the same year that Barbara's Aunt Helen Gladys died. Two families, oceans apart, marked by the same wartime year.
Together Mary and Romulo raised two children in Peachtree City, Georgia — the same community where Barbara and Thomas had settled the Hamall family.
