The Records Behind the Identification

Petrona Quimpo — “The Daughter Remembered as Tonang”
The primary and supporting documents on which this case study rests — parish christenings, a civil death report, notarial deeds, and a civil death certificate. Each is presented with its transcribed identification and source citation. The methodology page explains how they fit together into the triangulation argument.

Parentage & Identity

The records that fix Petrona Quimpo’s parents and tie her to the Morales children. The 1896 baptism of Josefa Morales supplies the maternal grandparents — Ponciano Quimpo and Mena Ferrer — that anchor the entire identification.

First Marriage — Briones

Petrona’s earlier marriage to Basilio Briones. The 1884 christening of María de Loreto Briones names the same maternal grandparents as Josefa’s 1896 baptism — the proof that the Briones-marriage and Morales-marriage Petrona are one woman.
